WEEKEND RECAP / AUGUST 8
The kids were pumped for back-to-school night, and so were we! August 8 brought a double feature and another chance to keep learning.
We showed real improvement in practice and qualifying, coming in 11th. Following some of the veterans helped me spot a few things to work on, and we kept chipping away at them throughout the night.
In the first feature, we brought it home 10th. Our restarts improved, and I felt better turning into Turn 3. Starting on the outside was a little more intimidating than I expected, but it was another good learning experience!
The second feature ended with an 11th-place finish. The car got much tighter, so instead of pushing it too hard, we settled in and rode it out.
We’re getting better, learning more, and enjoying the progress.
TEAM UPDATE / AUGUST 29–30
Unfortunately, personal family matters kept us from making it to championship weekend on August 29–30. And that’s okay. This year was about having fun and learning—and we did just that.

Race season may be winding down up here, but HL Motorsports has one more weekend circled: September 26–27 at Kalamazoo Speedway.
Arik is stepping out of the driver’s seat for this one. A familiar face, Scott Root, will take the wheel of our Gun Lake Boat Rentals & Marina and HUB International #22.
Richie will also be in action in the #25 Root Racing Sportsman.
Come spend the weekend with family, friends, and your local race teams as we close out our 2026 season at the track. It’s your final chance to see the #22 in action this year!
